Finding Family

Every person on this earth has either had or will have a moment in their life where they are so down, where they realize that they must change, where they are at rock bottom. While seeing some people in that place is scary, ultimately it is that rock bottom that causes most of us to realize what we must do to change ourselves for the better.
Kanye West has had controversy brewing around him ever since he dropped his first album, College Dropout, which thrust him and his ego into the spotlight. His latest stunt happened at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA's), where West now infamously grabbed the microphone from country music star Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech in order to announce to the audience that he believed Beyonce should have won the award.
The next day, West appeared on The Jay Leno Show in order to perform Run This Town. Amid all the press coverage of his incident the night before, West requested to speak with Leno about what happened. During the interview, Leno asked West what his deceased mother, who infamously died due to complications from surgery two years ago, would have thought about his actions. West sat silent for a good 15 seconds, before admitting that he needed to take some time off to analyze what he has done and what he needs to do. Reports are now coming out that West will be attending rehab for alcoholism after his Fame Kills tour with Lady Gaga.
West has hit his low. And he is taking action.
As talked about in a previous blog, Michael Beasley also checked into a rehab facility in Houston to address pshycological and drug related issues. He has since been released and is now back with the Miami Heat after a month of rehabilitation. In a statement to the media, Beasley called his stint in rehab 'his darkest hour.' He also stated to the press and to his team that he is ready to move past his issues and provide for his team.
Beasley hit his low. He has taken action, and now he has made it through a better man with a brighter future.
We all hit lows in life. Whether it be something bad we did, someone we wronged, a death of someone close to us, or anything that can knock someone down, the most important thing to remember is not how to erase what happened, but how to deal with what happened, how to learn from what happened, and how to move on and become a better person.
It's never easy dealing with hardships. That's why the people closest to us seem to translate into our family in our darkest hours. Those people that stop their lives to help pull us out of hardships are without question the most important people in our lives, and should be treated as such. Those people are your family, no matter the blood relation.
Everybody knows someone dealing with pain. Be there for them, whether they come to you asking for advice on how to deal with a situation, or simply are looking for someone to have their back and keep them from falling any further, you must be there for them. Be their family.
Without a doubt, family is what Mike and Kanye need to get through their current hardships.
